Hair Donations

Hair donors, please be advised that interest this year is significantly higher than ever before. Our Policy has always been to leave our donors with a simple haircut and style that they can be proud of. We will do our very best to maintain this policy, however due to the increase in donations, our stylists will be challenged to process all of our participants.

Haircuts will be very basic, as well as a blow dry. Providing a "salon experience" is unfortunately no longer possible. Follow up with your hairstylist may be necesary

We will do our best to accommodate walk-ups but we strongly encourage you to make an appointment by calling
780-444-9467.

We thank you for your kind and personal donation of hair to make wigs. Our priority is to ensure that local children benefit from these donations. Once collected, donations go to Alfred's Hair in Edmonton, who ships it overseas to be manufactured into wigs. They have, for years, had a policy to help children suffering from cancer, most importantly children from Edmonton and outlying areas.

A minimum of 10 inches is required for wigs. Hair to be donated must be unprocessed (not dyed and no product in it), clean and dry.

Hair donation at the event is quite simple. Beginning in January, you can book an appointment by calling our appointment line. When you get to the event, the stylists will consult to determine if you are shaving after the donation or are keeping some hair and will need a new style. Everyone at the event understands what a huge sacrifice hair donation is, so be prepared to be "fussed over".

Hair donations can be made throughout the year. Gather hair into small sections, put an elastic at the top and bottom to keep it together, and cut it. We have been asked to NOT braid the hair. Ensure that the hair is collected carefully, as this is the product that will go into a child's wig. Hair can be taken to  Alfred's Hair in Edmonton (alfreds@alfreds.ab.ca or 780- 454-5656) along with your name, age, and mailing address.
