Thank You
Another year has come and gone for our annual Hair Massacure
event. We are grateful for every participant, volunteer, group and
company that has helped make the 10th Annual Hair Massacure a huge
success.
We could not accomplish the things we do if it weren't for our
generous Sponsors, Entertainers, Photographers, Security, Salons
and Stylists. Not to mention our Captains, Co-Captains and the many
volunteers who put in countless hours the days and months before,
during and after our event.
Most importantly, we could not forget all of the participants
who fundraised, pinked and/or shaved their heads to bring a face
(or head) to help further our event. These participants were not
only individual participants but they were Schools and Teams who
came together to use their combined forces to raise even more
awareness. These Schools and Teams make up well over ½ of our final
total at Hair Massacure. We wish to send out our deepest thanks to
all of you!
Special Thanks
We would like to give a HUGE thank you to our Edmonton Oilers-
Ryan Jones - for starting his "Save the Flow" campaign. Edmonton
fans rallied around our forward and raised the money to help him
keep his much loved locks rather than see them shaved off. A very
special thank you goes to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation
and Edmonton Oilers- Lennart Petrell, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and
Anton Lander - for their willingness to shave off their hair in
support of the Hair Massacure and in keeping tradition with our
Oilers participation on an annual basis.
FC Edmonton, Edmonton's NASL team, also brought amazing support,
recognition and a new twist to our Event. They whole-heartedly
pinked, shaved and fundraised in support of the Hair Massacure's
mandate of raising money to help children with life threatening
illnesses. They even came to Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton to
pink their hair alongside several resident families. This provided
a fun-filled afternoon and much needed distraction to these
families.
We truly appreciate the time that our local sports teams share
with us to bring more recognition to the Hair Massacure. It is
through this example that we were proud to have several Minor
Hockey and sports teams follow suit and participate in our Hair
Massacure.
Much planning and support goes into the Hair Massacure and we
would like to thank all those who helped make this Event our most
successful event to date. While every effort is made to ensure all
credit goes to everyone possible please excuse us if we have
forgotten to add your name to our lists. If you have not been
included on one of these lists please contact our Project
Coordinator immediately at lritchie@hairmassacure.com.
Wait!!! There are more people to thank!
Benefits of our cause
A headshave allows us to understand one small component of
cancer - hair loss. Children's hair loss often results in a
weakened self esteem. Our aim is to inspire every man, woman and
child to recognize the urgency of the decline in health in our
youth and make necessary steps in making a difference.
"It is no longer about cancer killing kids….It's
about kids killing cancer!"
